Profi Test KH / Alk Salifert – Alkalinity Test for Reef Aquarium

The Profi Test KH / Alk Salifert allows precise monitoring of carbonate levels and alkalinity in a saltwater aquarium. KH is an essential parameter for pH stability and the proper growth of calcifying corals.

This test works with two solutions and allows you to perform approximately 100 to 200 tests depending on the chosen resolution. Salifert tests are recognized for their reliability and excellent value for money.

Main Features

  • Test type: KH / alkalinity
  • Usage: marine aquarium
  • Number of tests: approximately 100 to 200
  • Selectable normal or low resolution mode
  • Reading by graduated syringe and correspondence chart

Safety Information

Caution. Keep out of reach of children. Do not ingest.

The KH-Ind reagent contains a dye. Avoid contact with fabrics or other materials that may be stained.

Instructions for Use

1. Pour 4 ml of water to be tested into the test vial using the 5 ml syringe. For lower resolution and a higher number of tests, pour 2 ml instead of 4 ml.

2. Shake the KH-Ind dropper bottle several times, then add 4 drops into the test vial. For a low resolution test, add 2 drops.

3. Attach the plastic tip to the 1 ml syringe and fill it with the KH reagent until the lower part of the black piston reaches the 1.00 ml mark. Keep the tip submerged in the reagent to avoid drawing in air. An air gap between the piston and the liquid is normal and does not affect the result.

4. Gradually add the KH reagent to the test vial until the color changes from blue/green to an orange-red or pink color. Stir one to two seconds after each drop added.

5. Hold the syringe vertically, tip upwards, and read the position of the top of the black piston.

Each graduation corresponds to 0.01 ml. The KH or alkalinity value is determined using the provided table.

In low resolution mode, multiply the obtained result by two. Natural seawater generally has a KH between 7 and 8 dKH.
